Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre is a hair series that focuses on giving back the shine and boost to color treated hair. I know most hair brands have a series for colored hair and it feels like yeah the same old usual stuff. But Shu Uemura is nothing like your average brand, it is super luxurious and is known to give amazing results.
My hair dresser Sofia uses Shu Uemura as well as Redken products, so I have tried their treatments a few times but I havent had the chance to try them at home and actually see how the results are after multiple uses.
I started off trying the color lustre serie because I told do highlights with bleach and sometime use a hair color in the roots to lighten up my hair with one shade, it is called a base lift.
You basically use a normal hair dye /highlighter in your roots and leave it on for just 5-10 min and roots will instantly get a shade lighter without having to use any bleach. Perfect for us dark blonde ladies wanting to get just a little bit blonder (especially in the winter when you don’t get that natural effect from the sun…).
So let’s get down to business.
MY IMPRESSION OF THE SCHAMPO/MASK/CONDITIONER?
The perfume of the Shu Uemura product is very important and it is obvious they spend a lot of time making sure it is a real salon experience but at home.
The scent is called Rose Of Japan and have top notes mandarin, grapefruit, black currant and cardamom essence, heart notes in rose among many and base notes with sandalwood. Yeah a long list of different fragrances and it smelled so lovely.
Both the shampoo, conditioner and mask contains musk rose which is very rich in fatty acids and vitamin A. Fatty acids helps boost the hair and vitamin A helps to prevent that the colour fades. Suposedly the products are suppose to make the hair look glossy and full of shimmer.
My first impression is that the Full Shimmer shampoo feels lovely and does not dry out my hair (it is sulfate free), I also love the smell.
The mask, I have now used it twice and the second time I left it on for a whole 15 min to see what effect it would give, to be able to give you dolls a fair review.
It has a nice consistency and is not too thick as some hair masks are, so it was easy to apply. I applied it to towel dried hair and it really felt like it was absorbed into the hair. It is suppose to boost the hair fibre and since it absorbed so much into the hair it kinda felt like it did.
It is hard to tell where the results come from, I’m guessing the mask is the key to getting good results with these product but I liked the conditioner as well.
To give it a fair review I did not apply any products at all in my hair after using these products, I just blow dried it without using a brush or anything and I used only cold air.
I mean oh boy my hair looked lighter, the old highlights definitely looked like they were sparkling a bit more than before washing it or using the shampoo I normally use.
It looks like my hair is sparkling and shining way more than usual, you now these highlighting hair sprays that you can use? Yeah that is what my hair looks like afterwards and I mean WOW!
It feels so smooth, soft and shining I’m loving the effect it had on my hair.
Well yes, however the products are very pricey so if you can afford them then by all means go for it, splurge on yourself and I’m sure you will like the products.
However if you are on a tight budget I wouldnt say anybody should save lots of money to invest in hair care, the only important product to spend a bit of extra money on is a good hair mask. But when it comes to shampoo and conditioner if you are trying to cut down cost go with cheaper options and save your money for just the mask.
