I love the fresh feeling of not wearing any make up, especially when it is spring/summer and the weather is warm and sunny. Just add a touch of lip gloss and moisturizer, throw on a pair of sunglasses and go out and enjoy the day.
I know many women all over the world do not feel as confident or comfortable doing this. But I love to share my own beauty hacks on how to be comfortable in your own skin.
The number one rule before anything else is to stop caring what everybody else thinks about you.
Okay I totally get that many women around the world still wants to look cute in front of their BFs/husbands but now I’m talking about the rest of the world, the strangers you meet in the street or in the grocery store!
You will most likely never see these people again and they don’t even know that you look any different because they have never seen you with make up, so why bother about what these people might think!!
I can honestly go without make up both downtown in London and Stockholm, hit up all the stores in my work out clothes and no make up. That’s how little I care about what others think.
I love fashion and beauty, does that mean I always need to apply make up? The answer is no.
So now, moving on to some of my favorite beauty hacks of feeling fresh without make up. The next step besides learning how to stop caring what people think, is to take excellent care of your skin while putting in minimal efforts. Does that sounds impossible? I can promise you it isn’t, you just have to treat your skin and body with outmost respect and care, nourish it, feed it, care for the skin you are in ♥
Let’s get down to my fave tips and steps to follow!
1. Facial oils
Using a great facial oil to minimize any fine/dry lines and make the skin look more glowing. If you have ever seen an older woman with glowing skin and with far less wrinkles that other women her age, she will probably responds with saying she just uses oils her entire life instead of moirtuizer. Using the right type of facial oils (like Argan oil) will not only moisturizer you skin but it will protect your skin from pollution and dirt in the air, it will serve as a protective layer on top of your skin while still letting your skin breath. Since it is natural the skin will easier adsorb it than a classic lab produced moisturizer.
2. Self tanning
A self tanner for the face is the perfect way to instantly look more groomed and transform your skin from gloomy to glowing. I love this self tanner from Bare Minerals so much. It looks a bit green when you first apply it, it is because the bronzer in the cream (meaning the cream is coloured so you see where you have applied it) has a green undertone. But you can’t really tell once you have applied it carefully all over you face, neck and don’t forget to add a bit on your ears. I like to apply the self tanner during the day so it looks like I am wearing a tinted moisturizer.
3. Treat your skin
Make sure you invest in skin care that suits your skin, a moisturizer, toner, cleanser and masks does not need to be from the same series or even brand to be the best for your skin. If you really want to pamper your skin, visit a dermatologist at a skin care clinic and find our your exacty skin type. It is even possible to have different skin types in different areas, for example one area as the T zone can be oily and the rest of the face can be dry. You then need to have one moisturizer for the T-zone and another moisturizer for the rest of your face and neck. In recent days I’ve discovered the importance of a good toner (without alcohol), it really works wonders on the skin!
4. Do a eye lash and eye brow tint
Go to the saloon or do it yourself at home. Here is a guide I wrote before on home to do it at home. This really makes you eyes “pop” and gives your brows that defined and clean look. This is also great for when you want to use less brow product and you will be surprised how much blonde hair you have on you face especially around the eye area that you can tint and all the sudden you have fuller brows!
5. Nude lip gloss
Find the perfect nude colored lip liner and lip gloss matching your skin tone. I wrote a guide about that here as well. This will instantly make you look more radiant and glowing, yet very natural.
6. Try and minimize stress in your life
Going through stress or trauma can feel like it ages you a year or two in just a few months. Try and spend one hour every day by yourself and just focus on yourself and getting some quality time with yourself, talk a walk, listening to some relaxing music, watch your favorite TV show, anything to just wind down for a bit. And also get rid of all the toxic people in your life, if a boyfriend or friend is causing you grief and stress they do not deserve to be in your life. It may be so tough to break up with some because they give you a sense of stability and you are use to spending time with them, but once the dust settles, the sad-period after a break up will end and you will feel like a heaviest weight is lifted off your shoulders. Trust me when I say (with experience) you will start to glow again from within and out.
7. The obvious steps – Good organic foods, water and plenty of sleep
Take good care of your skin, never sleep with make up on (I have done this twice in my entire life…), eat a lot of green veggies and fruits, make fresh ginger tea with raw turmeric powder a few times per week, invest in a blender or juicer and make amazing vitamin boosting smoothies, sleep at least 8 hours every night and plenty of water drink water (1.5 liters per day is ideal). Don’t smoke and cut down on alcohol, avoid sodas and too much junk food and white sugar. If you like sweetener in your tea or coffee, switch to agave syrup. Try eat a tablespoon of raw Manuka honey each day. Also getting a daily dose of extra B and D vitamins is crucial, it is not possible to get enough of vitamins through these days since most of us eat cooked foods and most of vitamins and antioxidant disappear while heating up the food.
